Roadtrip to bring in 2012

Matt and I spent Christmas 2011 at our little home in Phoenix. The year before we were renters of this little bungalow and that year we owned it. We had a live tree from Uncle Ted and Aunt Maggie by the fireplace and enjoyed the sunny desert Christmas day. We packed up the car and loaded up Syd on the 26th and headed to San Diego. We just wanted a little getaway and we often chose San Diego for its proximity and access to water. We stayed in a hotel, went on nice walks and checked out the beach. We then drove up the coast of CA to visit my Uncle Don and Aunt Jan for a day. And picked up Mr David Anderson on the way to San Francisco for New Year's Eve. Nick and Lindsey welcomed us and our 95 pound dog with such hospitality! We enjoyed the fine things SF has to offer: great views, nice neighborhoods, good Chinese food, but mostly good people. Nick and Lindsey know some great folks who we now think of as good friends. And I was able to see my friend Stacey, meet her husband AND see my friend Kiren and meet her baby girl AND see my best friend from high school, Kari, who lives in Alaska! It was truly wonderful! (Please forgive the lack of pics of these people). New Years Eve itself was a lot, a lot of karaoke--mostly at Nick and Lindseys. It was a great way to welcome 2012! Matt and I often think back on those few days and carry them close to us since these people are no longer a drive away.
