Matt and I have been living in a house that was foreclosed on because our landlord went under water. We were renting from the bank for about 6 months. We had often thought about buying a house but thought it was unwise since we're not sure where in the world we'll end up. But when we heard our house was officially going on the market, we started thinking about buying the very house we were living in and renting. How often do you get to know so much about the house and neighborhood you're buying in? And for such a low price and such low interest rate! Our neighborhood is a little rough around the edges but is certainly up and coming. Several local restaurants have opened up and added to our 'hood, including a vegan restaurant which opened in Sept--that is a sure sign of good things to come, right?! We officially bought the house and closed in October! The first day we owned it the ice maker broke! HA! Seems like a frivolous thing but an ice maker feels like luxury in Phoenix!
Our house is in an old historic neighborhood that was named a top Southwest neighborhood by the show 'This Old House' and supposedly has the most architects and artist residents in all of Phoenix. The front of our house was built in the early 1920's and the back was built in the 1940s in order to house soldiers for the war. It's in excellent shape and has certainly been renovated since then! We don't feel we need to do much but we have painted and added a few things (including a brand new front door!). Check out the before and after photos...and with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, we'd love to have visitors!
Congrats on your house purchase! How exciting! I love the paint! you really have great decorating skills! Can we hire you to paint our house? We would LOVE to come and visit. We sure do miss Arizona! Love Aunt Di and Uncle Rich
